Dutch Design Awards (DDA) is evolving; in 2024, it is embracing a year of reflection. Given the changing landscape of the world and the design field, DDA and their part in the discourse around design awards must also change.
This year, Dutch Design Awards dedicates time and space to facilitating a profound reflection on the awards, which entails reconsidering the strategy and redesigning its processes. A new approach for DDA will be presented early next year.
Reflect and connect
In this ‘year of reflection and connection,’ DDA will focus on the award’s rich history, highlighting young designers from the past and present. DDA will collaborate with ten previous winners or nominees in the Young Designers category. Each is asked to introduce a promising name in the current young designer field.
There will be candid talks, like the interviews by Evelien Reich (former chair of the Young Designer jury), asking them where they are now, how they got there, and how they are shaping the future. The work of these ten plus ten designers will be celebrated in the annual Dutch Design Awards exhibition during Dutch Design Week 2024.
Participating Designers
Impact has been a longstanding cornerstone of Dutch Design Awards. The exhibition will borrow from the five missions identified by Dutch Design Week as a framework for the relevant topics in which designers are working towards impact.
