September 2 2014
Fashion designer Liselore Frowijn, industrial designer Dave Hakkens, and animator Niels Hoebers are this year's contenders for the Young Designer Award. The winner will be announced on Saturday, October 18, during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven.
Dutch Design Awards (DDA) annually shows and rewards the best Dutch designs. The Young Designer Award is the special incentive award for young talent. From a total of 30 entries, the Commission (chaired by Saskia van Stein, Bureau Europa) selected three finalists: fashion designer Liselore Frowijn, industrial designer Dave Hakkens, and animator Niels Hoebers. For more information, read the info in the annex.
According to the selection committee, the strikingly diverse entries show that young Dutch designers are growing increasingly communicative. They are actively looking for cooperation with others and show a reappraisal of aesthetics. The visual aspect of their creations is of prime importance, and in favor of political statements. There is also growing attention for the production process.
