Crystal Houses by MVRDV winner Public Award

On Saturday 29 October during Dutch Design Week the Dutch Design Awards were presented. Crystal Houses by MVRDV, ABT & TU DELFT and POESIA received the highest number of votes from audiences in the exhibition and online, with which it earned the Public Award.

The solid glass brick is a revolutionary new material that enables completely new city scapes. Transparent buildings, almost unimaginable until recently, can completely change the horizon and city experience. The committee is looking forward to all following applications of this technically challenging, complex design that will have major impact on our environment.


The big winner of DDA 2016 is FLAX Chair by Christien Meindertsma. This project won the Future Award, the prize for most promising design for the future.
