Design studio DAY was commissioned to completely renovate the shop. Taking centre stage in the shop is what the designers have labelled The White Thing: a piece of furniture that, like a set of steps, gradually climbs from the middle to either side, thus accommodating items of different sizes. Its counterpart is The Black Thing, which extends out into the lobby and incorporates the till. The books are displayed on an elongated cabinet by the window. The design for the new museum shop derives its impact from its simplicity.

The designers have successfully applied simple interventions to create a stunning effect. Clear routing leads the visitors along the products. The set-up fits in well with the nature of the building.
