Huis Bierings

The project

The dwelling in Leidsche Rijn that Ana Rocha and Michel Tombal designed for the Bierings-de Haas family shows us the basic form of the archetypical house. The interior is mostly white, with a few touches of American oak veneer. During the route from entrance to the living room the sightlines, of which the projecting windows that keep an ‘eye’ on the surroundings and create a serene light atmosphere inside, play a key role. Upon entering the open-plan kitchen the large glass front affords a great view.

Committee

A basic form derived from the archetypical house has led to the realisation of a characteristic dwelling. On the outside, the house looks severe and closed, yet on the inside it appears to be open and transparent. Attractive features are the white staircase and the ingress of light in the interior.
