This artwork manifested in a book bundles three hundred pictures of the same view of the North Sea horizon. The images were made in 2012 by a machine developed by the Dutch artist Bruno van den Elshout. For an entire year, at every hour of each day, 8785 times in total, the system took a photograph from the roof of Hotel in Kijkduin. As an object, New Horizons is big and heavy, but the design is light and spatial. Through the flat book binding it feels more like a minimalistic cube than a book. The pages are glued in place of bound, the uncoated FSC paper and the lithography of Colour&Books created a better colour saturation. The project was partly financed by a crowdfunding.

Buddhism manifested in a book with a strong emotional overtone. The concept, whereby a single place exists of 8785 images, seems to convey how much can be found in silence. The committee considers it admirable that the designer in all the hustle and bustle of daily life found the time to make such a meaningful and labour-intensive book. Very carefully made, both in binding and printing, and made possible through crowdfunding.
