The work of Atelier NL shows that research is an essential and productive part of the design process. The Clay Service project consists of components of a table service in which the provenance of the clay used is revealed in the design, colour and finishing of the final product.

Atelier NL shows that research is an essential part of the design process. They demonstrate a different side and the identity of design. In their designs, they visualise both the process as the development of the product, inbetween semi-finished product and final product. This results in a readable and very artisanal product that remains inviting to being watched.
